Where to get electricity if the electricity is cut off, and what to buy in the house for insurance – will tell.
This winter, Ukrainian houses may often lose light due to shelling of the energy infrastructure. Previously, we talked about how to save light at home to help the energy workers get their work done faster.
But if there is no electricity in the house, then there is nothing to save. In case of sudden power outages, Ukrainians are recommended to buy some things for home in advance. These items will help you survive several hours without electricity.
A light bulb with a battery
If there is no electricity for several hours, a light bulb with a battery will help illuminate the house. Such a lamp can provide light in the house for several hours, if the battery is charged in advance. Such lamps are not fire-hazardous and quite economical, as they usually use economical LED light.
In various online stores, you can buy such a lamp for an average of 200-300 hryvnias. The minimum price starts from 80 hryvnias. For approximately 1,200 hryvnias, you can buy a lamp that shines for many hours.
The lights
It is recommended to buy several flashlights for each house. They are of several types. Battery-powered flashlights last longer than others, but they won’t help if the battery isn’t charged when the lights go out. A battery-powered flashlight is a fairly reliable option. Mechanical flashlights work as long as they are manually started, and a few more minutes.
Powerbanks
A power bank is an indispensable device for people who often use smartphones. With their help, you can charge your phone without light. Power banks must be charged in advance while the electricity is on. The higher the power of the device, the heavier and larger the power bank will be.
Car charger
Many electronic devices can be charged from the car cigarette lighter. If you have a car, it’s worth buying a cigarette lighter adapter to charge other devices when the lights are out.
Generator
An electric generator is a large battery that can power a refrigerator, kettle, heater and other appliances. There are different types of generators – solar, gas, diesel, or gasoline.
The gasoline generator is less powerful, but cheaper than the others. It will save during short power outages. It is better to take a diesel generator for a country house or a private house where there are many household appliances.
Refrigerator bag
A cooler bag or thermal bag will keep food fresh if the refrigerator is turned off. Depending on the size and power, it can keep cold from 2 to 7 hours. And if you use cold accumulators, the time will increase to 12 hours.
Portable gas stove
Owners of electric stoves are advised to purchase a portable gas stove that runs on gas cylinders in case of a power outage. Such a tile will also help in the situation if the gas is turned off. The cost of one plate is approximately 800-2000 hryvnias, and one cylinder costs from 80 hryvnias.
Battery powered kettle
In such kettles, the device has a built-in battery that allows you to boil water without electricity. Previously, they were bought mainly by travelers to boil water in any conditions. Now such a device will be useful at home to always have hot water at hand and prepare semi-finished products without light. Such equipment will cost approximately 300-400 hryvnias.
