You can consider this material “a supplement to a supplement”. Recently, I talked in detail about the Volkswagen T-Roc NEW crossover: design changes, interior transformations, driving experience, equipment and prices. What else to add? And what about the R-Line version, which became available for Ukraine for the first time?! So: TOP-5 questions about the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line car – and their answers.
How noticeably different are the regular versions of the Volkswagen T-Roc and the T-Roc R-Line?
Very noticeably different! It would seem that a few decorative elements with a permanent body – but in fact the features of the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line set almost a new perception of the car: youthful, fit, active.
The front bumper is the most noticeable detail. The gloss black bar (hello to you, Ford Escort RS1600) is finished off with side flares with vertical 3-section LED daytime running lights. Such a “face” is clearly not to be confused with other versions of the Volkswagen T-Roc, and with other cars in general. Also used is the original radiator grille with elongated honeycombs and the signature R-logo.
By the way, a similar letter can be found on the front wings. And when looking at the sidewalls, attention is drawn to the original 17-inch Valencia wheels – again a kind of “R-Line exclusive”. Pay attention to the rear bumper: its corners are also decorated with vertical inserts, and the exhaust nozzles are located below. Imitation of course; but looks bright!

Constant dimensions, format, body – but a changed image: a crossover Volkswagen T–Roc R–Line clearly perceived as more … “impertinent”! Perhaps this is the most correct word to describe its design.
With the appearance, everything is clear, but what is inside?
There are also a few changes. The first and main change in the interior of all versions of the Volkswagen T-Roc is, of course, a new front panel: a soft cover, a free-standing display, a changed decorative insert and ventilation deflectors. A new “climate” unit and a DSG-“automatic” lever were also installed. I repeat: these are changes for all versions of the Volkswagen T-Roc. However, the R-Line crossover adds its own interesting features.
First, the sports steering wheel. It has a nice shape with notches under the fingers, cool perforated leather – touch buttons! Yes, yes, you can claim that it is inconvenient as many times as you like. But Volkswagen’s ergonomics specialists clearly don’t get their salary for nothing: these touch buttons have a small return click, they are separated by notches, and backlighting is provided. As a result, such a steering wheel gives a very expensive and pleasant impression of the interior of the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line crossover: because you are constantly in contact with it, it constantly falls into the field of vision – and it does not disappoint.
Secondly, the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line car has its own special decor inside. Black glossy finish on the front panel, metal overlays on the pedals, combined seat upholstery with the already familiar R-logo, dark ceiling. A trifle here, a detail there – but together everything forms a single, pleasant, modern image.
Salon of the updated car Volkswagen T–Roc already familiar: new front panel, dedicated central display, changed “climate” unit, etc. R–Line adds its accents: cool sports steering wheel with heating and touch buttons, black glossy decor Lava Stone Blackcombined seat trim with inserts ArtVeloursmetal pads on the pedals. Similar to the appearance, all these details do not change the interior as a whole, but they significantly (and positively) affect the feeling of “perceived” quality. The space in the back and the volume of the trunk do not change depending on the version of the car: everything is at the level of “not too much, but quite enough.”
There are differences on the way – is the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line crossover more sporty?
In theory, the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line should occupy an intermediate position between the regular versions of the Volkswagen T-Roc model and the really hot Volkswagen T-Roc R: sports suspension, a sharp steering wheel, and a system for changing the driving profile are optionally offered here. The test car had only the last point.
As a result, this Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line crossover seems to drive almost as well as the regular version. Just don’t consider this a “downside” of the R-Line version; Here, rather, the Volkswagen T-Roc is a “plus” in general. Because it has a phenomenally carefully calibrated suspension balance between providing decent comfort in the pits, minimizing rolls, and acquiring a neutral character in turns.
This compact Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line crossover drives like a big one: no harsh shock from the suspension, but a pleasant springiness and composure in habits. Plus, the steering wheel is of medium sharpness – a little more than 2.5 turns from stop to stop (yes, I thought). Moreover, the steering wheel is not loaded with background effort, in normal driving modes it is pleasant and light. But the car turns perfectly: the steering wheel obeys instantly, it easily gets into an arc. And this description applies to all versions of the Volkswagen T-Roc.
What does the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line have to offer? MODE button for changing driving modes. For example, when selecting “ЕСО”, the transmission can switch to neutral gear and the car coasts, and the climate system works in a more gentle mode. In the SPORT mode, everything is the opposite – the transmission tries to keep the gear lower (and the engine revs are higher), the steering wheel becomes heavier. Admittedly, this does not radically change the character of the car, but it is still invigorating.
The connection of the 1.5-liter TSI engine and the 7-speed DSG transmission remained unchanged, but with a button MODE you can choose the desired character of the car or create your own driving profile. My optimum is normal steering wheel settings and sports transmission settings: then the box keeps one gear lower than usual, the engine revolutions are in the 2-3-4 thousand zone, there is absolutely no “sleepiness” in the motor responses – and Volkswagen T–Roc R–Line is already trying to drive as you would expect from his name. I also note that an optional package is available for the car, which includes a sports suspension and a progressive sharp steering wheel. In a word: this is far from a sports car – but it turns out that it can be fun!
And how much does such a car cost?
If we talk specifically about the car Volkswagen T–Roc R–Line, its price starts from UAH 1.285 million. or about $32 thousand (Calculated at the market rate). Just discussing the price, be sure to keep in mind the status of the maximum version in the Volkswagen T-Roc line: combined interior upholstery, original R-seats and R-steering wheel, “smart” LED headlights, 2-zone “climate”, multimedia with an 8-inch display, a rear-view camera, digital instruments Digital Cockpit Pro and much more.
Car Volkswagen T–Roc R–Line acts as both a “sporty” version of the model in Ukraine, and the most fully equipped. In a word – the flagship in the model line Volkswagen T–Roc for our market.
There is more available options Volkswagen T–Roc – Complete sets Style and Sport with a starting price of about UAH 1.12-1.22 million. or $28-30 thousand (Calculated at the market rate). These options are inferior only in some equipment details: seat upholstery, regular LED headlights, 16 or 17-inch wheels (but in a different design). However, any configuration of the updated Volkswagen T-Roc crossover offers a 150-horsepower engine, a DSG automatic, lane control, adaptive cruise, heated seats, and a digital instrument panel.
Maksym Solovyov, founder of the Drivovo company: “Our service offers subscription cars, crossover Volkswagen T–Roc is one of the most popular. It offers good comfort, decent handling, excellent equipment, excellent sound insulation – it’s like a high-class car, but more compact and convenient size. However, it happens when customers want to get not just “optimal” but “maximum”: in design, equipment, technologies. This is the kind of car it acts as Volkswagen T–Roc R–Line is a maxim, but, as before, in a compact and convenient format. In short: if you liked it Volkswagen Tiguan R–Linebut it is too big – there is a crossover for such customers Volkswagen T–Roc R–Line!“.
Conclusions: why is the Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line crossover special?
Emotions that he knows how to give. I’ve always praised the Volkswagen T-Roc for its ability to combine the practicality of a crossover, the thoughtfulness of Volkswagen and the bright design of the T-Roc model itself. The updated car did not lose these advantages, but added to it a high-quality interior and better equipment. And the R-Line version simply took and reduced all this to an absolute – that’s where its value lies. The Volkswagen T-Roc R-Line crossover is a car that can be practical and emotional at the same time. And not in the minus of any one of these qualities, but in addition to the first second and vice versa.
