According to RMC Sport, the most violent clashes were in the city of Montpellier, where a 14-year-old boy died as a result of a fan conflict.
Unknown persons approached the car in which the fans of the “tricolor” were traveling and began to tear down the flag of the national team sticking out of the window. The driver suddenly left the place and hit a 14-year-old boy. The latter died in the clinic from his injuries.
Riots also began in Paris and other French cities. In addition, clashes between football fans have also occurred in Brussels, Belgium, where many ethnic Moroccans also live.
French media reports that law enforcement officers were preparing in advance for possible protests. About 10,000 law enforcement officers were deployed on the streets of Paris and other French cities.
Let’s add that when Morocco beat Portugal in the quarter-finals of the 2022 World Cup last week, 20,000 fans came to the Champs-Élysées to celebrate the historic victory. Then there were also clashes between fans and the police.
