Henry Cavill, who previously announced that he will not return to the roles of Superman and the Witcher, may play the main character in the series from the Warhammer 40,000 game universe, according to THR.
Updated [16:14]: Games Workshop has confirmed that it has reached an agreement for Amazon to use the company’s intellectual property for film and television productions.
Amazon has been in talks for two months to acquire the rights to film the game, created by the British company Games Workshop, and the deal is in the final stages. Writers or showrunners for the project have not yet been confirmed, but Vertigo Entertainment is involved in the production team.
Warhammer 40,000 (or Warhammer 40K) is a tabletop military-tactical game that recreates the battles between the armies of the 41st millennium using miniatures (28mm scale, approximately 1:65). It uses figures of soldiers, monsters and military equipment, as well as “terrains” – models of buildings, forests and other elements of the landscape.

The events of the game and its derivatives take place in the fictional universe of the same name in the distant future – human civilization has stopped progress and is in a never-ending war with aliens and magical creatures, as well as gods and demons. There’s the Imperium (a human state), the Orcs, the Necrons (an army of skeletal robots), the Tyranids (a race governed by a collective Higher Mind, composed entirely of sentient beings), etc.
Henry Cavill is a known fan of the Warhammer universe, and even likes to paint figures in his spare time. The actor visited Games Workshop headquarters and told IGN that he would love to play a part in a Warhammer series or movie.
Today was an amazingly unexpected day! After finishing work I bumped into #HenryCavill! In four years working for black library, I do not know that this will happen one day! Epic! # BlackLibrary # WarhammerWorld # GamesWorkshop # Warhammer pic.twitter.com/ZbwngZJwA1

For Amazon, creating a Warhammer 40,000 spin-off is a pretty ambitious move, but it could lead to a show that’s epic in scope, combining big genre elements of science fiction and fantasy, as well as a host of interesting characters.
Back on Wednesday, Cavil officially announced that he will not return as “Superman” just yet. The script, which is currently being written by James Gunn for the new film, will describe the younger years of the “Man of Steel”, so the role of the superhero will be given to a younger actor. Henry Cavill also announced his departure from the Netflix series “The Witcher”.
