After the Russian missile attack on the morning of December 16, the power system is balanced, but it may take longer to restore power.

“Today, the enemy again launched a massive missile attack on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine. According to the military, about 70 missiles were fired at our energy facilities. This is the 9th targeted terrorist missile attack by Russia on the energy system of Ukraine,” Ukrenergo NEC reported.

It is reported that the main target has once again become trunk networks and generation facilities. As a result of shelling, the shortage of electricity in the system increased significantly, which was significant even before that.

“Unfortunately, there are hits. The northern, southern and central regions suffered the most damage. Where it is possible now, repair crews are already assessing the amount of damage and starting repair and emergency work,” the company’s press service noted.

Energy workers keep the situation under control. Despite all the damage and thanks to the professional work of the power engineers, the power system maintains a stable frequency of 50 Hz, the network works synchronously with the European continental network.

“Ukrenergo” notes that the state of emergency has been introduced only for electricity market participants, in accordance with the requirements of the “Electricity Market Rules”. It applies exclusively to market operations.

Currently, the regime of emergency shutdowns is in effect throughout the territory of Ukraine. Despite the fact that this is already the ninth wave of rocket attacks on energy facilities, the restoration of power supply may take longer than before.

“Electricity will be supplied primarily to critical infrastructure facilities: hospitals, water canals, heat supply facilities, sewage treatment plants,” the company explained.

Russian attack on December 16: mass blackouts

We will remind, due to the attack of Russia, Ukrenergo announced an emergency situation in the energy system of Ukraine. It was reported that 50% of the consumption of the unified energy system of Ukraine was lost from energy facilities. In connection with this, the company announced a system emergency mode.

According to the commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia launched 76 missiles at the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, 60 of them were destroyed by Ukrainian fighters.
