The prosecutor’s office intends to interrogate commandant Yaroslav Szymczyk.
Chief Commandant of the Polish Police, Jarosław Szymczyk, spoke about the details of the incident that took place in the headquarters of the National Police of Poland in Warsaw. The cause of the explosion was an anti-tank grenade launcher brought from Ukraine.
Polish radio RMF FM reports that Szymczyk was presented with two anti-tank grenade launchers during his visit to Ukraine. He was assured that the weapon was not working, and inside one of the grenade launchers there was a speaker. The second tube also had to be shot and safe.
According to the commandant, the explosion occurred when he put one of the grenade launchers in a vertical position. As a result of the incident, a hole was left in the floor and the ceiling was damaged.
Szymczyk was diagnosed with a concussion. Doctors have already discharged the policeman from the hospital. Now the commandant will appear before the prosecutor’s office as a witness.
An explosion at the police station in Warsaw – what is known
On December 14, an explosion occurred in the headquarters of the Polish National Police in Warsaw. According to the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, one of the gifts received by the head of the body during a working visit to Ukraine two days before the incident was detonated.
The incident took place in the morning at 07:50 in a room near the office of Chief Commandant of the Polish Police, Yaroslav Szymczyk. As a result of the explosion, Szymczyk received minor injuries. He was hospitalized.
