IT and traffic arbitration: what these areas have in common, where to study and how to enter the profession

Technical and creative professionals who preferred IT are increasingly interested in arbitrage traffic. This direction is changing rapidly, and large arbitration companies are constantly looking for experienced specialists.

In TraffBraza’s partner material, her team explains what IT and arbitration have in common, where to learn and how to get started.

What is Traffic Arbitration?

Let’s start with definitions. Traffic arbitrage is buying and sending traffic to clients using tools like Google Ads, Facebook Ads, TikTok Ads, InApp, etc.

Arbitrage is an aggressive direction that changes quickly. So far, it is gaining more and more momentum and is gradually catching up with IT in terms of attractiveness for specialists.

At first glance, these two directions seem different. But they have a lot more in common than you might imagine. We talk about the similarities and differences between the two areas using the example of the leading Ukrainian arbitration team TraffBraza.

Coincidence No. 1 – the working infrastructure of companies

Like IT, large arbitrage companies produce a product. Most often, these are landing pages, mobile applications, chat bots, and so on. These resources are created to drive traffic to them.

Therefore, the effective work of both IT and the arbitration company requires a developed infrastructure. This is a base that varies from company to company. It is also a tool with which you can work and earn.

The typical structure for arbitration: the departments of integration, finance and media buying – a single one, atypical for IT companies. At the same time, there are players on the market with a more widely developed structure, such as TraffBraza. The company works with two directions: with gambling (gambling industry) and finance, which are quite popular niches for IT.

In order to ensure the smooth and high-quality work of employees, the company’s owners, Vira Soboleva and Oleksandr Palyanichka, laid the foundation for an infrastructure of 16 departments. Most of them resonate with typical IT.

IT and traffic arbitration: what these areas have in common, where to study and how to enter the profession

For example, the team has several independent iOS and Android mobile app development departments that are structured identically to typical IT departments. There is an integration department, or a TDS departmentIT and traffic arbitration: what these areas have in common, where to study and how to enter the professionIT and traffic arbitration: what these areas have in common, where to study and how to enter the professiontraffic delivery system, own creative team and others. The employees of the arbitration teams themselves understand how important the development of the infrastructure is.

“Arbitration is changing incredibly quickly. It’s a drive, but at the same time it’s very binding. Due to the rapidity of processes, it is often necessary to change something just as quickly. And here comes the temptation to make “crutches”. That is, to do it quickly, but not as qualitatively as it would be in IT. This temptation comes from the fact that arbitration has almost no built-in IT department system.

TraffBraza has gone further than most in this respect. With us, everything works not according to the usual schemes for arbitration, but in more detail. Therefore, the output has important advantages: smaller than the hierarchy, less strict requirements for working according to the scheme, and at the same time the development of the infrastructure, without which, after all, IT processes simply cannot exist.

Coincidence No. 2 – gradation and orientation to a high level of expertise

In IT, there is a clear and clear gradation of team players – from the junior level to the head of departmentIT and traffic arbitration: what these areas have in common, where to study and how to enter the professionIT and traffic arbitration: what these areas have in common, where to study and how to enter the professionEnglish head of the department. In traffic arbitration, the same hierarchy as in the IT sphere has taken root. In both areas, specialists can develop both horizontally and vertically, slightly changing direction.

To maintain the high quality and activity of work processes, professional teams recruit specialists from the middle level and above. For example, TraffBraza employs up to 15% of Junes. The HR department is responsible for retention, as well as for hiring qualified specialists. And here we come to the third coincidence.

Coincidence #3 – the role of the HR department in the work processes of companies

HR specialists in IT and arbitration face the same tasks. First of all, they should fill departments with quality personnel and build internal communication processes. HR in IT and in arbitration face the same difficulties – narrow, high-level specialists need to be searched for a long time.

Yes, to close the vacancy UAC mediabayer middle or senior level, you have to spend at least two months. It’s like with vacancies such as senior C++ specializing in video data transmission in IT – it takes time to find a real expert. In order to solve or at least minimize the problem with personnel, arbitration and IT companies are actively engaged in training.

Coincidence #4 – own educational initiatives

One of the features of the IT sphere is educational opportunities. Companies often organize their own schools or courses to cover the need for specialists and retain them.

Given the rapid changes in the industry and the difficulty of finding narrow specialists, advanced arbitration companies also support the idea of launching courses, opening schools, etc.

So, in the fall, TraffBraza organized a free school where buyers are taught to work with Google UAC. This is a format that allows junior-level specialists to enter the industry and at the same time immediately gain practical knowledge. The purpose of the training course is to develop high-quality specialists for your team. That is why the company covers all training costs. This course lasts a month and consists of daily intensive classes of up to eight hours during the working week.

Coincidence No. 5 – the process of entering the profession

Mastering a technical specialty at the basic level is now easy thanks to the large number of IT courses. After completing the comprehensive basic training, it is advisable to take on a small freelance project that will help you apply your knowledge in practice. Then you can knock on the IT company for a junior position. Within IT companies, it is almost always possible to switch between specializations. For example, you start as a tester, continue to learn, and then grow to become a developer.

The situation is similar in traffic arbitration. It is advisable to start with courses. Next, you need independent practice to create a portfolio – upload advertising campaigns in a test format and analyze them. Even with two or three cases, you can already contact media buying companies.

If the team is not ready to take June to the position of bayer, most likely he will be offered to try himself in the role of an account farmer. They purchase accounts in social networks and prepare them for launching advertising campaigns. By farming alongside experienced media buyers, Juns learn. And in six months they will be able to start working as bayers. The period of professional growth in arbitration is shorter compared to IT.

Coincidence No. 6 – the level of wages

IT and arbitration fields also coincide in terms of wages. In both industries, earnings increase according to specialization and professional level. For example, the average salary of a farmer, who is the initial link in the hierarchy of the arbitration company, is $400. Testers who are just entering the IT industry can count on the same earnings.

If you consider seniors and managers, earnings in both directions start at the $3k mark and approach the figure of $7k in some companies. At the same time, in arbitration, the average salary of IT specialists is higher by about 30%.

The situation with media buyers is different. They get a rate and a percentage of the profit made for the client. The average rate is $700, but the amount of interest is already very different from company to company.

The Ukrainian labor market is undergoing active changes. Technical and creative specialists who preferred IT are increasingly interested in arbitration. Large arbitration companies are growing dynamically and can offer non-standard tasks, and in terms of their professionalism, complexity of structure and level of earnings, they can already successfully compete with the classic IT sphere.

Companies are actively growing and are constantly looking for experienced specialists. Those who want to try their hand at arbitrage can knock on TraffBraza’s door. HRD of the team – Maria will tell about open vacancies that will be of interest to IT specialists.
