The war in Ukraine: the situation with energy
As reported, on March 4, the Russian occupiers captured the ZNPP and its satellite city of Energodar. Since then, Russia has refused to create a demilitarized zone around the ZNPP. The occupiers periodically shell the nuclear plant and the area near it.
In early September, the IAEA mission visited the Zaporizhzhia NPP. According to the results of the work in the report, the mission stated that there is an “immediate need for temporary measures” to avoid an accident at the ZNPP.
On October 23, the “Big Seven” (G7) countries called on Russia to immediately return full control of the ZNPP to Ukraine and withdraw its personnel and troops from it.
