The energy company “DTEK Energo” for the first time showed one of the important infrastructure facilities, the equipment of which was seriously damaged as a result of the shelling of the Russian Federation.

As reported by Radio Svoboda, whose journalists visited the facility, energy workers are now trying to repair the damaged equipment. But it is already clear that it will be possible to completely restore this facility, which is connected to the entire energy system, only after the end of the war.

According to the company’s employees, when the Russians struck, the power transformer and other equipment were completely destroyed. The blast wave damaged all the window frames, so the rooms were littered with glass and rocket fragments.

After this strike, thousands of consumers and businesses were left without electricity and – as a result – water supply. It is impossible to restore the damaged transformer, and the company is looking for a replacement in the warehouses of the former USSR countries, but so far it has not been possible to find a similar one on the market.

After the shelling, energy workers worked here continuously, thanks to which today this facility “DTEK Energo” has already partially resumed work and is working in an emergency emergency mode.

“In fact, we restored water circulation within a day, electricity supply for our own needs in a few hours, and later also for consumers. Energy workers worked despite the wall of dust. Everyone went to work. Due to a missile strike, the cables were cut off, the transformer was destroyed. This is very expensive equipment, all the oil in it burned out, 40 tons. Because the hit was direct,” says one of the company’s energy engineers.

Repair work is ongoing here, but the available specialists are not enough – some of them are now in the ranks of the Armed Forces. Some of those who retired returned to work on the “energy front”.

“These are unique professions, and it is impossible to replace a person and quickly train them in a month or two. It is necessary to have experience and skills to attract such a person to work. We work in an emergency manner. The watch staff feels like they are on the front line. Specialists are very needed today. The scale of injuries big”, – says the employee of the enterprise.

Strikes by the Russian Federation on DTEK enterprises

Starting from mid-October, the Russians are primarily attacking energy facilities in Ukraine. As reported by DPEK, as of December 16, Russian invaders have already carried out 20 missile attacks on the company’s enterprises.

As a result of enemy shelling, not only power facilities are destroyed, but also power plants are in danger. DTEK workers have already been injured after the shelling.

It happened that one of the energy enterprises of DTEK was disconnected from the power system due to Russian missile attacks.

DPEK specialists are convinced that the Russian military is consulting energy companies. As they said in a commentary to Radio Liberty, the occupiers know exactly where to direct missile strikes on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure in order to cause the greatest possible damage to Ukrainians.
