In fact, the whole secret lies in electromagnetic paws – they allow you to hold on to metal surfaces.
Engineers from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology designed and built an unusual robot dog MARVEL that can walk on walls and even ceilings. As you can understand from the name, the robot is inspired by superheroes from the “Marvel” universe, and more precisely – by Spider-Man.
The secret is in the electromagnetic paws – they allow you to hold on to metal surfaces. By turning on magnetism, the robot can cling to a vertical point on the wall with one leg and hold on to it while repositioning the other legs. That’s how he fights his way up.
The prototype is able to move at a speed of up to 0.7 meters per second, step over protruding beams, and also carry up to 3 kg of payload. In the course of the experiment, he coped not only with laboratory tests, but also managed to climb a rusty container, while bypassing areas where there was not enough metal.
According to the engineers’ plan, in the future such a robot may come in handy during repair work on bridges, production tanks and buildings.
Craftsmen from China also know how to surprise. Recently, they independently assembled a perfect iPhone. Work on this miracle of engineering technology was carried out for a little more than a year, but the result was worth it – a fully functional device came out, which was named iPhone V.
We also talked about modders who modified the iMac case by removing the “chin”. So they achieved a truly full-screen design.
