Last weekend, the Universal Pictures studio presented the trailer for the film “Oppenheimer”. This is a historical drama by Christopher Nolan, which tells the story of Robert Oppenheimer – a man who is not sure how serious the consequences of developing an atomic bomb will be, but still feels the need to create it.
“We imagine the future, and our imaginations terrify us,” says Oppenheimer’s voiceover at the start of the trailer, as footage of him in rural New Mexico is shown.
“They won’t be afraid of it until they understand,” he continues over footage of the bomb being made. “And they won’t understand it until they use it.”
“I don’t know if we can be trusted with such a weapon, but I have no choice,” he says later in the trailer.
Oppenheimer / Oppenheimer is Christopher Nolan’s first film made after his break with the Warner Bros. studio. Cillian Murphy played the role of Robert Oppenheimer. The film also starred Kenneth Branagh, Robert Downey Jr., Matt Damon, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Jack Quaid, Josh Peck, and others.
The film is based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of Robert Oppenheimer by Kai Byrd and Martin J. Sherwin.
