Have you ever sat on the toilet minding your own business and thought, “I wish Alexa was here with me?” Perhaps this is exactly what the designers of the $11,500 Kohler Numi 2.0 smart toilet, which includes Amazon’s voice assistant, had in mind.
Kohler first demonstrated Numi 2.0 at CES back in 2019 – little has changed since its announcement. Here, as before, there is everything you need to organize a party – Alexa, LED lighting, surround sound speakers. Any guests who come to your place will immediately appreciate your dedication to high technology. Unfortunately, the toilet does not have a built-in warning that Alexa is listening to all outgoing sounds, but it will not be superfluous to take this into account when designing the toilet.
Aside from the ultra-technological nature of the toilet, it has plenty of features that you’d expect from a super-expensive smart device of its kind. It is a multifunctional bidet, UV lamps for cleaning and control of temperature, position and pressure. Its bowl automatically washes off the dirt on the walls, deodorizes. There are heated seats, an air dryer and an emergency back-up wash for particularly difficult cases. But the most important thing is the automatic cover.
All these functions are controlled by a portable remote control, and the LEDs and surround sound are controlled by the Kohler Konnect app. The company did not mention support for Matter – in addition to interacting with Alexa, you will have to show ingenuity for the toilet to work together with other smart home systems. The toilet is already available to distributors and will be at the disposal of ordinary customers from day to day.

It is possible that soon Amazon will figuratively flush the voice assistant Alexa down the toilet:
The voice assistant Alexa is called a “colossal failure” – $3 billion in losses for Amazon’s technical division and $10 billion by the end of the year
