At The Game Awards 2022, Respawn Entertainment and Electronic Arts released the first gameplay trailer for Star Wars Jedi Survivor, the sequel to Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order. After that, the developers started sharing the details of the game. Recently, they talked about the combat system, characters, metroidvania elements and horse riding.

The details were revealed by Star Wars Jedi: Survivor director Stieg Asmussen in a conversation with Game Informer. He said that the main character Cal Kestis will be able to use five combat risers. In one of them, the protagonist will use two lightsabers, and in the second – a blade with a guard, which will allow to cause huge damage.

However, in this case, you will have to calculate the moment when to go on the attack. Since the rack is heavy, it takes more time to hit.

Another option for conducting battles is to bind a sword and a blaster. Traditional Jedi despised small arms and never used them. But Star Wars Jedi: Survivor members of the Order have to hide and survive by any means.

“It really speaks to where we are in this part of the story,” Asmussen said, noting that five years have passed in the series’ timeline and that things have gotten bleaker. “He’s an unconventional Jedi, and he has to do unconventional things. So, something that wasn’t frowned upon in the heyday of the Jedi Order? Kal finds that he’s going to do whatever it takes.”

Separately, Asmussen talked about a new character, a mercenary named Bodie Acuna. He and Cal have an almost brotherly relationship. The character will help in battles and in finding routes for further advancement.

The leader also said a few words about exploring the world. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor will deepen the metroidvania elements compared to the previous part. Whole areas will appear, where you can get to with the help of combinations of certain skills. And traveling through locations will speed up and simplify riding animals.
