In Odesa, the police detained a man who shot a fellow villager. He claims he shot the woman in the head while bragging about the gun.
As reported in the Main Office of the National Police in Odesa, the accident happened in Rozdilnya District. The man turned himself in to the police.
“It happened on December 24 at two o’clock in the morning at the place of residence of a 26-year-old man. He himself called the police and reported that he had shot a 22-year-old friend out of his own carelessness,” the message reads.
The police established in advance that the suspect invited the girl to his house, and after drinking low-alcohol drinks, he began to show a hunting rifle and fired a shot, as a result of which the guest received a gunshot wound to the head. She died from an injury incompatible with life.
The figure was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine and placed in a temporary detention facility. The police recovered the weapon from the crime scene and sent it for examination.
The law enforcement officers established that the rifle is registered to the detainee’s stepfather, who is currently abroad. Currently, they have started proceedings under Part 1 of Art. 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Intentional murder) and establish all the circumstances of the event.
