The Ambassador of the United States of America to Ukraine, Bridget Brink, condemned today’s morning shelling by the Russian occupiers of Kherson, as a result of which at least eight people died.

In her message on Twitter, she called Russia’s next attack on the recently liberated Kherson cruel.

“The residents of the city suffered so badly when the retreating Russian troops cut off electricity and water. According to preliminary data, many were killed and wounded. It is very terrible, especially on the eve of Christmas,” wrote Brink.

As reported, early today, December 24, the Russians shelled the center of Kherson. Initially, five dead and 20 wounded were reported. Later, it became known that 35 people were injured, and that the number of dead as a result of the morning shelling of the center of Kherson increased to eight people.

In turn, the head of the Kherson regional military administration, Yaroslav Yanushevich, reported that the terrorist attack by the Russians took the lives of 7 people, 58 Kherson residents were injured, 18 of them are in serious condition.

The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, called the morning shelling of Kherson terror and murder, and emphasized that the world should see and understand what absolute evil Ukraine is fighting against. He emphasized that the attack was made in the central part of Kherson, on Saturday morning, on the eve of Christmas, when there are many people on the street.

Meanwhile, the adviser to the city mayor, Roman Holovnia, said that the situation in Kherson after the Russian shelling remains difficult. He noted that the shelling fell almost in places of mass gathering of people – this is a market, a supermarket.
