The dead rescuers were from the Zhytomyr region.
On Saturday, December 24, 2022, three rescuers from the Zhytomyr region died during demining of the territory in the Kherson region.
According to the press service of the State Emergency Service of Zhytomyr Oblast, an enemy mine blew up and killed civil protection service ensign Serhiy Kurinny, a sapper driver of the pyrotechnic work group, as well as civil protection service junior sergeant Dmytro Krasnoshchokov, a driver of the motor vehicle department.
In addition, paramedic-rescue sergeant of the civil protection service Oleksiy Sych died of his injuries on the way to the hospital.
“All three selflessly served in the special emergency and rescue unit of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine in the Zhytomyr region and carried out the task of demining the territories of the Kherson region freed from the enemy,” the message says.
Demining of Ukraine
In the de-occupied territory of the Kharkiv and Kherson regions, robotic complexes will be used for demining. For two weeks, National Police bomb technicians were trained to demine territories with robotic equipment.
In addition, the US government will form and finance the work of 100 exchange teams in Ukraine by the spring of 2023. The representative of the US State Department, manager of European affairs, Michael Tierre, noted the high efficiency of Ukrainian sappers, who since March have neutralized about 500,000 explosive objects.
At the same time, he noted that Ukrainians need additional training, because there have already been losses among sappers during work.
