Preparation of the Ukrainian military to work with the Patriot air defense system will take place faster than usual.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Dmytro Kuleba, said that the United States government has developed a special plan for training the Ukrainian military to work on the Patriot complexes. It will pass in an accelerated mode.
In an interview with the Associated Press, the head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry noted that the system will be implemented in Ukraine earlier than in six months. At the same time, military training to work with the Patriot anti-aircraft missile system usually lasts about a year.
Kuleba also added that he is “absolutely satisfied” with the results of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi’s visit to the United States on December 21, 2022.
Transfer of Patriot systems to Ukraine
On December 21, 2022, the USA announced the transfer of a new package of military aid to Ukraine. It will also include Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
Subsequently, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the United States, Oksana Markarova, said that Ukraine is working with the United States of America on the allocation of additional Patriot air defense systems. In the Congress, after the visit of President Volodymyr Zelenskyi, the decision-making process in favor of our state intensified.
At the same time, Jordan Cohen, an analyst at the Cato Research Institute, believes that Ukrainian servicemen will be able to start using Patriot air defense systems provided by the United States no earlier than the end of spring 2023.
