The situation in Ukraine’s energy system is improving every day.
Energy Minister Herman Galushchenko said that during the New Year holidays, Russia may try to strike a new blow to Ukraine’s energy system. In the absence of new damage to critical infrastructure facilities, Ukrainians will spend several days with uninterrupted electricity supply.
As the head of the Ministry of Energy said on the air of the telethon, he does not rule out new strikes on the holidays. The date of the next shelling of Ukraine by the Russian Federation may be the New Year – from December 31 to January 1.
“The Russians have not given up on attacking the power system. They are sticking to certain dates. And perhaps the New Year is one of those dates when they will try to do maximum damage to our power system,” he emphasized.
According to Galushchenko, in the absence of massive shelling, Ukrainians can count on several days of uninterrupted energy supply during the New Year holidays. He added that the situation in Ukraine’s energy system is improving every day. It is possible to increase the production of electricity and deliver it to consumers.
“The entire energy industry today works 24/7. And the results of this work can be seen every hour,” he said.
The situation with light in Ukraine
As of Monday, December 26, 2022, the electricity shortage in Ukraine remains significant. Emergency blackouts have been introduced in five regions and in Kyiv. There are limitations in the electricity transmission system as a result of significant damage to main networks caused by mass attacks by the Russians.
At the same time, the operator of the unified power grid NEC “Ukrenergo” warns about the spread of a fake about the cancellation of emergency power outages. The company reminded that emergency shutdowns are a forced step that is used only in the presence of a deficit to maintain the balance of production and consumption in the energy system.
Earlier, energy expert Gennady Ryabtsev said that even if the Russian troops launch all their missiles at the same time, they will not be able to plunge Ukraine into a total blackout. He noted that electricity will be restored anyway.
