Elon Musk says that users will be able to disable the view counting feature once the update is “tidyed up.”
Previously, Twitter announced that view counters on posts are now available on iOS, Android, and partially on the web version. The new feature will allow you to see how many users have seen your tweet, but other people can also see your personal stats.
The company notes that such data will not be displayed on Tweets of Communities, Twitter Circle and “old” tweets.

“Views count regardless of where a user sees your tweet (homepage, search, profiles, embedded articles, etc.) and whether they follow you. Even viewing the author of the tweet itself is counted.”
Musk announced the feature on Dec. 1 and hinted that he’s trying to make text and image posts on the platform look like video posts that already have public views. He also said that the feature is meant to show how alive the platform is, and that just looking at replies and likes doesn’t give users the full picture.
Twitter announces with View Count, so you can see many times and tweet has been seen! This is normal for video.
Shows how much more alive Twitter is than it may seem, as over 90% of Twitter users read, but don’t tweet, reply or like, as those are public actions.

For now, Elon has announced that the feature will eventually be able to be turned off.
“We’ll tidy up the aesthetics and add an opt-out option, but I think that’s it [функция] almost everyone will like it,” Musk wrote.
We’ll tidy up thethetics & add setting to turn it off, but I think almost everyone will grow to like it

Musk also denied a Reuters report on Friday that he had ordered the removal of a Twitter feature known as ThereIsHelp that advertised suicide hotlines and other safety resources. The publication reported that the feature had been missing for the past few days, citing people familiar with the matter.
1. The message is actually still up. This is fake news.
2. Twitter doesn’t prevent suicide.

Also ongoing is the renewal of the long-suffering Twitter Blue subscription, which Musk has canceled and launched several times, each time announcing a new price: from $7.99 monthly to $8, and $11 exclusively for Apple users. Twitter Blue owners will now get “priority display in conversations” and the ability to upload videos of up to 60 minutes, 2GB in size and 1080p resolution (web version only).
