A “shell famine” has begun in Russia – a military expert

According to military expert Petro Chernyk, a classic artillery summer volley of fire is 60-80 thousand shells per day. Currently, the occupiers use at least three times less ammunition each day – 18,000-20,000 rounds.

Since the beginning of the full-scale war, the Russians have reduced the amount of ammunition by three times. This was reported by military expert Petro Chernyk on the air of an information telethon.

“Today, the war is still 95% an artillery war. Indeed, the “shell famine” in the Russian Federation has begun, but it is not as critical as possible. At the beginning of this war, the Russians had between 15 and 20 million shells of various calibers,” he said he.

At the same time, Chernyk cited the example of the USA, which at the beginning of the year had only 2.5 million shells in its warehouses.

The expert added that the Russians have already used most of their shells or Ukrainian soldiers have destroyed their stocks.

“They can produce up to 125,000 shells per month. A classic artillery summer firing range is 60-80,000 shells per day. So this is a two-day norm,” he explained.

Chernyk said that currently the Russians use at least three times less ammunition each day – 18,000-20,000 rounds.

“At the same time, from our side, the indicator is no more than 7-7.5 thousand. But we are many times superior to them in terms of goal setting, that is, in terms of quality. That is, we are in the zone of strategic fire superiority,” the expert emphasized.

“Shell hunger” in Russia: what experts say

As reported, on December 18, the press secretary of the Eastern Group of Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Serhiy Cherevy, stated that the Russian army has not yet experienced a “shell famine”, but the systematic work of Ukrainian artillerymen and other units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine forces the occupiers to complicate the logistics of transportation and storage ammunition

He added that the Defense Forces are intensively depleting the enemy’s stockpiles of shells. However, the Russians are taking ammunition from Belarus and are negotiating the supply of shells with other countries.

Earlier it was reported that the Russian Federation would run out of shells and armored vehicles by the end of the year. In addition, the Russian Federation has another problem. It consists in the fact that the rifled guns of the artillery and tank guns of the occupiers wear out their barrels.
