The number of Russian soldiers in Belarus is insufficient for a new invasion of Ukraine.
As of Wednesday, December 28, 2022, there are more than 10,000 Russian soldiers on the territory of Belarus. However, this number is not enough to start a new invasion of Ukraine.
As the head of the State Border Service of Ukraine, Serhiy Deineko, noted on the air of the telethon, the threat of a possible invasion from the territory of Belarus remains. At the same time, the enemy currently has no real opportunities to carry out such an operation.
“We do not record the creation of offensive groups, and the group that is in Russia is about 10,200 soldiers, it is not capable of carrying out the task of re-attacking the territory of Ukraine,” Deineko added.
Threat of repeated invasion of the Russian Federation from Belarus
Russian occupation troops have been active in the area of the border between Belarus and Ukraine for several weeks. Against the background of such maneuvers, a discussion of a possible repeated attack by the Russian Federation on the northern regions of Ukraine began in the information field.
In Belarus, they began to transfer the army to “wartime” as part of the plan of sudden checks of combat readiness, which is in force in the country. The Ministry of Defense of the country named the purpose of such actions, in particular, checking the knowledge of servicemen.
Earlier, the spokesman of the State Border Service Andriy Demchenko said that the situation on the border with Belarus remains fully under control, although somewhat tense, especially in the information field. He added that Belarus does not stop supporting Russia in the war, in particular by providing its territory, its support, infrastructure and airspace.
