Today, the Orthodox respect the memory of Saint Ilya, the miracle worker of Murom, who was a warrior and monk, and served the Motherland during the reign of Volodymyr Monomakh. Ilya Muromskyi spent his whole life in campaigns, and in his old age he took monastic vows and began to lead a hermit life in the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra – his holy relics rest there.
