The reason for the technical failure in the metro turnstile system is voltage drops.
On Monday, January 2, a collapse was observed in the Kyiv metro, where not all turnstiles are working at a number of stations. As the KMDA explained, everything is due to voltage drops after the night shelling of the Russian Federation. It was because of them that a technical failure occurred in the automation.
The Kyiv authorities also listed the metro stations that operate as usual:
- “Heroes of the Dnipro”
- “Farewell”
- “Taras Shevchenko”
- “Contract Square”
- “Raw”
- “Palace of Sports”
- “Klovska”
- “Friendship of Nations”
- “Excavators”
- “Slavutich”
- “Mushrooms”
- “Pozniak”
- “Kharkivska”.
They promised to inform about the complete restoration of the turnstiles in the capital’s underground.

After the Russian missile attacks, there are disruptions in the operation of the metro due to voltage drops. In addition, they can completely stop the work of the subway and use its stations as a shelter.
And on January 1, 2023, the movement of trains on the “red” subway line in Kyiv was restricted due to the debris of a missile found on the tracks. Later, it became known that explosives technicians removed the fragment of the rocket. Tracks and contact network were not damaged.
