For the CES 2023 exhibition, Samsung has prepared several new computer monitors with original characteristics. For example, the new version of the Odyssey Neo G9 (a 49-inch model under this name was already released in 2021) is positioned as a “super ultra-wide curved display” and has a screen diagonal of 57 inches.
The device based on Mini-LED technology supports a resolution of 7680×2160 pixels (aspect ratio 32:9). The number of dots horizontally corresponds to the 8K UHDTV standard, and vertically to 4K. It is also noted that this is one of the first gaming monitors with support for the DisplayPort 2.1 interface. And the novelty provides an image refresh rate of up to 240 Hz. Unfortunately, the detailed specifications and price of the 57-inch Samsung Odyssey Neo G9 monitor are not specified. The device should go on sale later this year.
Samsung has revealed the Odyssey G95SC monitor, a 49-inch model that it claims is the world’s first OLED gaming monitor with a 32:9 aspect ratio. The company also reminded that the 34-inch Odyssey G8 QD-OLED monitor, which debuted in the fall during IFA 2022, will be released very soon. The Odyssey G95SC has a curved panel with an 1800R curve and a resolution of 5120×1440 pixels, which provides a frequency of up to 240 Hz. HDR True Black 400 support is claimed, which means a peak brightness of 400 nits. Although the monitor is designed to connect to powerful gaming PCs or consoles, it also supports the Samsung Gaming Hub. Thanks to this, you can connect a wireless controller and run games in cloud services such as Xbox Cloud Gaming and Nvidia GeForce Now. And Smart Hub support opens up access to Smart TV apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, and more. The monitor has Mini DisplayPort, Micro HDMI 2.1 and USB-C connectors with support for charging up to 65 W. The Samsung Odyssey G95SC gaming monitor will go on sale later this year, with an undisclosed price yet.
In cases where a monitor is needed for work, Samsung offers the 5K ViewFinity S9 model. This is a 27-inch device with an IPS panel and a matte finish. The monitor has a resolution of 5120×2880 pixels and is capable of reproducing 99% of the DCI-P3 color space. HDR600 support is reported. HDMI, Thunderbolt 4, USB-C and DisplayPort connectors are available for connecting signal sources. The device allows you to rotate the display in portrait orientation. The monitor comes pre-installed with the Tizen TV OS, so that the user can access streaming programs even without connecting external signal sources. It comes with a 4K webcam that can be used for conferencing. The software is capable of automatically zooming and tracking the object in front of the camera. And the Samsung ViewFinity S9 monitor can charge a laptop battery by transmitting up to 96 W of energy. The novelty should go on sale at the beginning of this year, but its price has not yet been announced.
