Despite the attempts of the Russian occupiers, the Bakhmut “fortress” survived.
On January 2, Ukrainian border guards fought two fierce battles near Bakhmut and in the city. The Russian occupiers suffered losses.
According to the State Border Service, one battle took place near the settlement of Pidgorodne, it lasted more than four hours – from 12:30 to 16:50.
“A group of 30 Russians tried to storm the positions of our defenders. According to preliminary information, seven enemy soldiers were killed and another nine were wounded. At the same time, there were no losses in the ranks of the Armed Forces,” the message reads.
Another battle took place in the area of the Bakhmut landfill – from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
“Ukrainian border guards, together with a unit of the SZG, destroyed two observation points of the Russian military in the interval from 16:00 to 17:00. The losses of the occupiers – five “200”, three “300” were confirmed by the aerial reconnaissance of the Special Operations Forces,” – reported the DPSU.
The border guards also showed a video of the New Year’s Eve battles, which were fought by fighters in the Bakhmut direction.
The situation in Bakhmut – what is known
Bakhmut is rightfully called a fortress in Ukraine. The Russian occupiers have been trying to capture the city for more than a month now, but all have been unsuccessful, because the soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces are holding the defense.
During the last assaults, the Russians lost 213 “units of manpower”, more than 80 – “three hundred”.
