Ukrainian Kostyuk sensationally defeated the reigning Wimbledon champion at the tournament in Australia

On Wednesday, January 4, Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk won the second round of the tournament in Adelaide and advanced to the quarterfinals.

Marta’s opponent was the champion of “Wimbledon-2022” Olena Rybakina from Kazakhstan.

The match lasted 2 hours and 23 minutes. During this time, Kostiuk served 5 times, committed 3 double faults and realized 4/9 break points.

It is worth noting that Kosyuk won four consecutive victories for the first time since April 2021.

In the 1/4 finals of the tournament in Adelaide, Marta Kostiuk will play against the winner of Ons Jaber (Tunisia) – Sorana Kirstya (Romania).

Let’s add that 23-year-old Rybakina won the Wimbledon final last summer against Ons Jabert and became the youngest singles champion of this tournament since 2011.

We will remind you that Marta Kostiuk made her way to the main draw of the tournament in Adelaide, having overcome the qualification. In the round of 16, the Ukrainian defeated the Australian Jamie Forlis.
