One battery of air defense systems, which the United States promised to transfer to Ukraine, will only partially strengthen air defense.
In order to protect only important centers, Ukraine needs at least ten Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
Aviation expert Valery Romanenko expressed this opinion. According to him, one battery of Patriot air defense systems requires a staff of 90 people and transmits 24 channels.
He noted that one air defense system battery, which the US promised to transfer to Ukraine, will only partially strengthen air defense.
The expert also commented on the terms of training Ukrainian servicemen to service the complex. Romanenko is sure that they will be able to learn in six months, although it usually takes twice as long.
“Our officers are already more or less familiar with NASAMS complexes and IRIS-T complexes. The only thing that will be difficult for them to master is radars with new operating principles,” the expert added.

As stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, the provision of the Patriot air defense system to Ukraine is a psychological breakthrough, which shows that another taboo on the supply of weapons to the Armed Forces has been lifted.
