The second season of The Last of Us series will most likely show the events of The Last of Us Part II. As for the game series, it is not finished. There is still “something to tell” in this universe.
Such statements were noted by the showrunner of the picture Craig Mazin and one of the directors of Naughty Dog, the head of the development of two parts of TLoU and the director of one of the episodes of the series, Neil Druckmann. They gave an extensive interview to The Hollywood Reporter. In it, they talked about the filming process, the selection of actors, the experiences of the lead actors, etc.
As for the second season, Mazin and Druckmann hinted that it will focus on “the story of Naughty Dog’s bold sequel Part II, which turns everything on its head.” At the same time, the creators of the show did not openly announce what they will talk about in the continuation of the series.
Druckman made a similar hint in response to a question about the new part of the game series The Last of Us. He stated, “I think there is still a story to be told.” According to the head of Naughty Dog, the only adaptation will be the HBO show. Therefore, his answer was about games. Mazin supported Druckmann and stated that he was not interested in series that lasted forever.
The Last of Us series – plot and actors
- The screenplay of the game shows a world where there has been an outbreak of an epidemic of a mutating parasite fungus that turns people into zombies. In the center of the plot is an experienced cynical smuggler, Joel, who lost his daughter at the dawn of the pandemic. Now he will have to transport a cheeky girl, Ellie, who is immune to the disease, across the country.
- The roles of Joel and his companion will be performed by Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsay, respectively. These actors have already starred together in another successful show from HBO – “Game of Thrones”.
- The showrunner of the film adaptation was Craig Mazin, who created the series “Chernobyl”. The author of the original game – the head of the Naughty Dog studio, Neil Druckmann – also participates in the production.
- The show is filmed in Canada. HBO plans to spend $200 million on the production of the first season of the film.
- The first series of the show will be released on January 15 on HBO Max.
