Denys Popovych emphasized that the Kremlin’s statements are used by Russian propaganda against Ukraine.
The Russian occupiers plan to use the so-called truce to regroup forces at the front. It is about the Bakhmut direction.
“If we take this period of time, 36 hours is not such a large-scale time for any regrouping and preparation for large-scale combat operations and offensives… However, to regroup and renew your forces in the Bakhmut direction, throw up reinforcements and take new offensive actions, which they are threatening us, it is quite possible during this time,” emphasized military commentator Denys Popovych on the air of the “Freedim” TV channel.
In addition, he noted that the “Christmas truce” can be used by Russian propaganda for its own purposes.
“I hold the following opinion in view of the reaction of the Ukrainian side to this proposal… We will then be accused of not wanting peace proposals, and in this way they will try to “bring all this to the masses”. We offered a truce, the Ukrainians did not agreed how bad they are. This is one of the goals of this ceasefire announcement,” the expert concluded.
Christmas “truce” from Russia – what is known
The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, called for a truce to be declared on Christmas Day, allegedly to give believers the opportunity to visit churches. At the same time, the OPU called such statements cynical and accused the Russian Orthodox Church of war propaganda.
In turn, the Secretary of the National Security Council Oleksiy Danilov said that he sees lies and hypocrisy in the statements of the Russians.
Ukraine’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Serhiy Kyslytsia, blasted the Kremlin’s statements about the so-called Christmas truce. The diplomat recalled that in the spring, Putin’s henchmen refused the Easter truce.
