The Office of the President of Ukraine stated that Kyiv has “all the necessary guarantees” from Italy regarding weapons.
The Italian authorities will adopt the sixth interdepartmental decree on new supplies of military aid to Ukraine no earlier than February.
According to La Repubblica, a decision will be made at the end of January which military funds and in what quantity will be sent to the war in Ukraine.
As you know, it is about the possible dispatch of SAMP-T anti-aircraft missile systems (SAMS) and Aspide guided missiles. The Office of the President of Ukraine confirmed that Kyiv has “all necessary guarantees” from Rome regarding weapons.
War in Ukraine: Italy’s help
It will be recalled that the Italian Senate overwhelmingly approved the resolution submitted by the government on the extension of military aid to Ukraine until the end of 2023. Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni said that Rome will consider the issue of providing air defense systems to Ukraine.
Previously, Italy had already provided artillery weapons for the Armed Forces, in particular the M109L self-propelled guns.
On January 7, it was reported that US President National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan, in a conversation with Italian Prime Minister Francesco Talo’s diplomatic adviser, called on Rome to transfer additional air defense funds to Ukraine as soon as possible. Later it became known that Italy is preparing the sixth package of defense aid to Ukraine, the government is agreeing on the final details.
