Without any announcement, previous versions of Apple Music and Apple TV applications for Windows 11 have become available to users. They can be downloaded from the Microsoft Store. Along with them came the previous version of the Apple Devices program, which allows you to “control Apple devices from your Windows PC.”
At the 2022 Surface event, Microsoft announced that apps could come to Windows 11 this year, so it shouldn’t be a big surprise. Apple’s separate multimedia programs for Windows have long been in development — as recently as 2019, the company was hiring engineers to create them. These programs replaced iTunes on the Mac, and the goal is to eventually replace them on Windows as well.
That being said, all of these apps require Windows 11 Build 22621 or newer to run. According to 9to5Mac, the apps work fine. Apple TV works just like the app on Xbox or Smart TV, providing access to Apple TV+ and Apple TV channels, as well as movies and TV shows from the iTunes Store. Apple Music lacks the lyrics feature, but is otherwise the same as the macOS version.
As for the Apple Devices app, it’s meant to replace iTunes as a sync and backup tool. It allows you to create local copies of Apple device data, synchronize libraries, restore firmware without using iTunes. At the first launch, the user will receive a message that iTunes for Windows will stop working. To continue using iTunes, you will have to uninstall new programs.
