Ukrainian troops are in active defense mode.
Military expert, reserve colonel of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, military pilot-instructor Roman Svitan said that the south and north of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region are the main areas where Russian troops are trying to attack.
On Apostrophe TV, he explained that the “south of Bakhmut” is Kurdyumivka and from that direction to Hodynyk Yar and Konsantinivka, where the occupiers are trying to climb the high-rises. However, the Armed Forces hold the enemy at certain boundaries.
At the same time, the “North of Bakhmut” is the zone from Krasnaya Gora to Soledar. The Russian occupying forces are also trying to push through these several tens of kilometers, leaning against the line of defense of the Ukrainian defenders in the area of the Bakhmutka River and the railway.
According to Svitan, the enemy came out in the area of the eastern part of Soledar. However, the Russians are entrenched in the same Bakhmutka river, where part of the city is located on the river, and our troops are holding their positions.
At the same time, the expert noted that the enemy exerts the greatest pressure there. Svitan added that the Ukrainian troops are in active defense mode, carrying out certain tactical and operational actions, and Bakhmut is not threatened by anything either from the south or the north.
The situation in Bakhmut
Ukrainian defenders have heroically defended Bakhmut for more than six months. During this time, this settlement of the Donetsk region became a fortress city.
The Armed Forces medic spoke about the approximate number of wounded Ukrainian soldiers in the battles near Bakhmut and Soledar. He stated that the last few days were “tense” on this part of the front.
The former commander of the US armed forces in Europe, retired lieutenant general Ben Godges, believes that Bakhmut and Soledar are under constant attack by the Russian military and mercenaries because the head of PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin has certain plans for Bakhmut.
