This morning, as a result of a helicopter crash, the minister, deputy minister and state secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were killed.
The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to appoint an acting Minister of Internal Affairs today, Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Olga Kuryshko told .
“A meeting of the government is planned, where the issue of appointing an acting minister will be considered,” she said.
The head of the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Law Enforcement, Serhii Yonushas, announced on the air of the national telethon that the duties of the deceased Denys Monastyrsky will be temporarily performed by one of the deputies.
The parliament must vote for the new head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs after the law enforcement committee approves the nomination.
Adviser to the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Vadym Denysenko, said in a comment to LIGA.net that the government will determine which of Monastyrskyi’s deputies will perform the minister’s duties.

Today, January 18, a helicopter of the State Emergency Service crashed near a kindergarten in Brovary, Kyiv region. There were nine people on board: six representatives of the operative group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, in particular, the leadership of the ministry – Minister Denys Monastyrskyi, his deputy Yevhen Yenin and State Secretary of the Ministry of Internal Affairs Yuriy Lubkovich, as well as three members of the crew of the Emergency Situations. All who were on board the helicopter died.
It is known that 16 people died as a result of the tragedy, including three children. 30 people were hospitalized, including 12 children.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, instructed the Security Service of Ukraine, in cooperation with the National Police and other authorized bodies, to find out all the circumstances of the helicopter crash.
Investigators of the Security Service have started a pre-trial investigation into the helicopter crash. Law enforcement officers are considering several versions of the tragedy: violation of flight rules, technical malfunction of the helicopter and deliberate actions to destroy the vehicle.
