In the fall of last year, a petition was created on the website of the Kyiv City Council with a proposal to introduce cashless payment for bus fares. As the author of the petition noted, citizens have to pay in cash in shuttle taxis, “unlike other types of transport”, and this can be inconvenient.
“They introduced cashless payment everywhere, except for minibuses. I propose to close this point in all types of public transport,” the author of the petition stressed.
The mentioned petition received the necessary number of votes for consideration, and it was submitted to the consideration of the Kyiv City Council. However, the Kyiv City Council did not support this petition.
In response to the petition, the local self-government body of Kyiv noted that the introduction of cashless fare payment in minibuses is possible only if Kyiv private carriers join the city system. So far, this has not happened, although “negotiations are underway.”
At the same time, it is emphasized that the implementation of the system has been postponed for the duration of martial law and another 9 months after its cancellation. Therefore, the introduction of cashless payment in minibuses will have to wait for a long time.
