Yesterday, Apple announced updated 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max processors (which the company claims are 6 times more powerful than any Intel-based MacBook), and if you configure the laptops with the highest specifications, the most powerful will cost $6499.
The cost of the 14-inch model starts at $1,999, and the 16-inch model starts at $2,499. Both starting prices will remain unchanged from the previous generation models, but more significant upgrades are available depending on the model, and this is where the cost differences will become apparent.
The 16-inch MacBook Pro with maximum performance, equipped with a top-of-the-line M2 Max processor with 12 computing cores and a 32-core graphics chip, 96 GB of memory and an 8 TB SSD, will cost $6,499. The previous-generation M1 Max model cost $6,099, but had a maximum storage capacity of 64 GB.
The new 14-inch MacBook Pro models can be customized to the same specifications as the new 16-inch device. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M2 Max, 96GB of unified storage and an 8TB SSD costs $6,299 instead of $5,899.
Orders for the new MacBook Pro models in 27 regions, including the US, began yesterday, so the first units will arrive to customers next Tuesday.
