Ukraine needs Western weapons for counteroffensive actions, the expert noted.
The war in Ukraine will change – if the Western partners provide our country with as many weapons as it requests, it will soon be ready to launch a large-scale counteroffensive to liberate its territory.
Kyiv will be able to prepare for a counteroffensive operation closer to the second half of spring, military expert Oleg Zhdanov said. “As of today, we are solving the issue of supplying weapons. If we solve this issue positively, believe me, we will immediately start forming (groups for a counteroffensive – Ed.),” he said.
According to him, as soon as Ukraine is ready, it will start looking for the enemy’s weak point and immediately start the next counter-operation.
“In which direction it will be, it is simply impossible to say now… but I think it will be no later than the spring of this year. That is, the middle of spring – closer to the second half, that is April-May – you can count on the fact that we will be ready before conducting a large-scale counteroffensive operation to liberate our territories,” Zhdanov predicted.
The war with Russia in Ukraine – what you need to know today
At the end of 2022, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhnyi warned that the Russians would again try to capture Kyiv. In addition, he said that defenders of Ukraine are preparing to conduct a new operation.
Later, Oleksandr Kovalenko, a military-political observer of the “Information Resistance” group, said that there are at least three promising locations for a counteroffensive by the Ukrainian military at the beginning of this year: Luhansk Oblast, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, and the left-bank part of Kherson Oblast.
