Ana de Armas (“Blonde”) may star in the Warhammer 40K film adaptation, according to Giantfreakinrobot’s sources. Currently, the only announced actor for Amazon’s upcoming sci-fi series is longtime game fan Henry Cavill, who has also taken on the role of executive producer and is in talks with de Armas.
It is not known what role Cavil plans to give the actress in the strict military universe of the franchise, but certainly such a star duo will attract a lot of attention.
Warhammer 40,000 (or Warhammer 40K) is a tabletop military-tactical game that recreates the battles between the armies of the 41st millennium using miniatures (28mm scale, approximately 1:65). It uses figures of soldiers, monsters and military equipment, as well as “terrains” – models of buildings, forests and other elements of the landscape.
The game was originally conceived as a sci-fi parallel to the existing Warhammer Fantasy series and used similar concepts. Since the publication of the first edition (titled Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader) in 1987, the franchise has expanded into a whole world of novels, role-playing games, concept music and, most importantly, video games.
Henry Cavill, also known as a longtime and dedicated video game fan, is particularly fond of the Witcher and Total War series. This has already led to him starring in a Netflix adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s novels and a Warhammer 40K deal with Amazon Studios.
No specific information about the plot or characters of the series has been provided yet. Although the game has a lot of information and details, there is no single line that could become the basis of the story. It’s also difficult to guess what roles Cavill or de Armas could be given – the game focuses on armies of anonymous space elves or goblins, from which it is still difficult to distinguish individual characters.
Perhaps the most significant and prominent character in Warhammer 40K is the nameless God-Emperor who founded the human nation of the Imperium and seeks to bring order to a violent and chaotic universe. Perhaps it is Cavil who will play him, since it is difficult to imagine the famous beauty de Armas in this role.
