As part of the Diia Reels event, during the World Economic Forum in Davos, a presentation of the Estonian state application mRiik, created on the basis of the Ukrainian “Diia”, took place. This is the first export of “Diya” abroad, according to the Ministry of Digital. The presentation was attended by the head of the Ministry of Digital Affairs, Mykhailo Fedorov, and the vice-chancellor for digital development of Estonia, Luukas Kristian Ilves.
The Ministry of Statistics and the Government of Estonia announced the cooperation last autumn and initially planned the first release of the Action-based mRiik program by the end of 2022. However, the technology took a little longer. From February, mRiik will be available for testers, and the full launch of the Estonian “Action” is planned for the middle of this year.
During cooperation with Estonian colleagues, the Actions team shared application code and approaches to UX/UI design. With a single national mobile platform, Estonia will be able to save development costs in the future.
Mykhailo Fedorov also published a short promotional video that clearly demonstrates the interface and main functions of the mRiik program.
Estonia is probably the most technologically advanced EU country, and its e-government system is rightfully considered one of the best in the world. The Ministry of Digital Affairs has never particularly hidden that it created the agency in 2019, inspired by the successful experience of Estonia, and implemented digital reforms based on the Estonian experience. And now Estonia is adopting the Ukrainian experience to create its own state program with documents and services.
This is, of course, a great achievement and a clear indication of international recognition – we sincerely congratulate the Ministry of Digital and the Diya development team on this, and we also wish them inexhaustible efforts and further success in the implementation of ambitious plans to scale Diya to the whole world. The beginning has already been set. At the same time, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) The United States Agency for International Development is an independent agency of the United States federal government that is responsible for non-military assistance from the United States to other countries. supported the idea of creating analogs of the “Action” program in other countries and has already allocated $650,000 for carrying out technical and economic feasibility studies. Moldova is one of the first countries to be interested in this offer, so it is waiting for the launch of the Moldovan version of “Dia”.
