Canada may transfer Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine
Canada may join the so-called “tank coalition”. The country can provide Ukraine with four German Leopard 2 tanks.
Canada is considering the possibility of transferring four Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine. However, the decision to provide the equipment to Kyiv has not yet been made.
At the same time, the announcement about the transfer of tanks to Ukraine may be made as early as Thursday.
“One interlocutor said that Canada is likely to hand over the A4 tank model to Ukraine, the oldest of the country’s armed forces. Canada bought the A4 from the Netherlands during the war in Afghanistan,” the article notes.
The war in Ukraine: Canada’s role
On January 18, it became known that Canada will hand over 200 Senator armored cars to Ukraine as part of military aid to repel Russian aggression.
In addition, Canada has already purchased the NASAMS anti-aircraft missile complex and ammunition for it from the United States. Delivery is expected “as soon as possible”.
On December 19, Ukraine received an additional 500 million Canadian dollars (equivalent to 367 million US dollars) within the framework of the credit agreement between Ukraine and Canada.
