The Ukrainian minister named one of the targets of the enemy’s massive missile strike.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Dmytro Kuleba said that today’s shelling of Odesa is, in particular, the response of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee.
Kuleba wrote about it on Twitter on Thursday, January 26. According to him, this was one of the goals of today’s massive Russian missile attack on Odesa, which caused massive power outages.
“This destruction is Putin’s response to the UNESCO committee, which included Odesa in the World Heritage List and put it under increased protection as an object of the World Heritage List in danger,” the minister emphasized.

As reported, in 2022 President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, in his address to the 215th session of the UNESCO Executive Council, stated that Ukraine had prepared the nomination file for Odesa for inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.
On January 25, the UNESCO World Heritage Committee decided to include the cultural and historical monument “Historic Center of the Port City of Odesa” in the list of World Heritage under threat in order to protect the cultural heritage of Odesa from the Russian invaders, who repeatedly directed their rocket attacks on the city.

Today, January 26, Russia carried out another missile attack on the territory of Ukraine. Defense forces in the area of responsibility of OK “South” destroyed 26 enemy air and sea-based missiles: 3 over Odesa region, 13 over Mykolaiv region, 7 over Kherson region, 3 over Vinnytsia region.
Several objects of critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia and Odesa regions were affected. As a result of enemy strikes, part of the Odesa region was left without electricity and water supply.
