The government allowed officials to visit children abroad. But only under certain conditions.
The State Border Service explained in which cases deputies and civil servants can go abroad. This was reported by the State Border Service.
“People’s deputies and deputies of local councils, judges, prosecutors, civil servants, reserved workers and other categories of persons may travel abroad only on business trips,” the border guards emphasized.
At the same time, as explained in the DPSU, a number of exceptions to the rules are provided and departure is allowed:
- single parents to visit their children abroad;
- for treatment abroad;
- on the basis of a separate decision of the head of the DPSU;
- in case of death of family members abroad.
The scandal with foreign trips of deputies
As reported, on January 23, President Volodymyr Zelenskyi signed a decree allowing officials to travel outside Ukraine exclusively on business trips. The decision of the NSDC prohibits officials from leaving Ukraine for private purposes.
On January 27, the Cabinet of Ministers adopted a resolution prohibiting the departure of officials abroad during the war without valid reasons. Prime Minister Denys Shmigal emphasized that people’s deputies, officials, representatives of local authorities, prosecutors, judges and many other officials can cross the state border on the basis of a business trip.
This was preceded by a series of scandals involving deputies who are vacationing abroad while ordinary Ukrainians defend the state at the front. People’s Deputy Mykola Tyshchenko was particularly “scrutinized”.
