Imported tomatoes on the Ukrainian market are on average 1.5 times more expensive than at the end of January 2022.
In Ukraine, interruptions in the supply of tomatoes led to an increase in their cost.
As the analysts of the EastFruit project reported,
the main supplier of greenhouse products to the Ukrainian market at this time of the year is Turkey, but in the last few weeks there were unfavorable weather conditions, which led to a significant decrease in the supply of greenhouse vegetables to foreign markets.
In particular, imported tomatoes are already on sale at UAH 65-73/kg, which is on average 10% more expensive than at the end of the last working week.
The main reason for the price increase, according to sellers, is that the offer of greenhouse tomatoes on the Ukrainian market has decreased to a minimum. Most greenhouse plants have already fully completed the sale of vegetables from the previous cycle. At the same time, the demand for these products remains consistently high.
Many market participants agree that such a price situation in this segment is a temporary phenomenon. They do not rule out that from the middle of February, selling prices in this segment will begin to decrease after the majority of Ukrainian greenhouse plants enter the market with a new turnover of greenhouse vegetables.
At the same time, today imported tomatoes on the Ukrainian market cost an average of 1.5 times more than at the end of January 2022.
