The new president of the Czech Republic, Petro Pavlo, intends to visit Ukraine to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky.
According to the Slovak publication Pravda.sk, on January 29, Petro Pavlo will call the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi. During the conversation, the President of the Czech Republic will discuss his visit to Kyiv with Zelenskyi.
Pavlo intends to visit the Ukrainian capital together with the President of Slovakia, Zuzana Chaputova. She has already met with the newly elected president of the Czech Republic at his campaign headquarters and welcomed such an idea.
Presidential elections in the Czech Republic
Retired army general Petro Pavlo won the presidential election in the Czech Republic. In the second round of elections, retired NATO general Pavlo won 57.5% of the vote in more than three quarters of the counted polling stations.
In case of victory, Pavlo promised strong support for Ukraine in all directions.
Pavel’s competitor in the presidential race was ex-prime minister and billionaire populist Andriy Babish from the ANO movement. Babish promoted the message that aid to Ukraine is too expensive for the Czech Republic. In addition, he stated that he would not send Czech soldiers to the aid of Poland or the Baltic states if they were attacked.
