Petro Pavlo will officially approve the powers of the president of the Czech Republic on March 9.
Petro Pavlo, who won the Czech presidential election, promised to support Ukraine in its fight against Russian aggression. He made such a statement following a telephone conversation with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi.
Thus, Pavlo thanked Zelensky on his Twitter for congratulating him on his victory in the elections and for the invitation to visit Kyiv.
“In our telephone conversation today, I assured him that Ukraine can continue to rely on the support of the Czech Republic,” the Czech president said.
Czech presidential election
The day before, the second round of presidential elections took place in the Czech Republic, in which the retired general Petro Pavlo, known for his pro-Ukrainian position, and the former prime minister of the country Andriy Babish, who is considered loyal to Russia, fought for victory.
According to the results of counting 100% of the votes, Petro Pavlo won with the result of 58% of the voters’ votes. He will officially assume the presidency on March 9, 2023.
Today, President Zelensky called his future colleague and congratulated him on his victory. Pavlo also received an invitation to visit Kyiv on an official or working visit.
