How to dress warmly so as not to sweat or freeze anywhere – has collected the best tips.
It is difficult to choose clothes in frosty weather. Often the legs get cold, and the body sweats in the meantime. In order to dress correctly and distribute heat evenly, you need to know a few tricks of combining clothes.
Follow the principle of multi-layering
In frosty weather, several layers of clothing should be worn to better retain heat. But simply wearing a T-shirt under a sweater is wrong – in this case, the body will sweat and the T-shirt will get wet. We advise you to use the principle of multi-layering in this way.
- The first layer of clothing is a thermal underwear. It will keep the body warm, and the sweat will lead to the next layer of clothing. Thermal underwear made of natural fabrics does not cope well with this task – it is better to buy a thing made of high-quality synthetics.
- The middle layer is insulated clothing, for example, a sweater and pants.
- The top layer is a jacket, shoes and a hat.
This simple principle will help you choose a warm street image for any weather. And in the house, the first two layers will be enough.
Choose the right materials
Natural fabrics such as cotton are nice and good for the skin, but they should not be worn in winter. They do not retain heat well and quickly get wet from sweat. Walking with wet socks and a wet T-shirt in winter is dangerous for health. Therefore, it is recommended to choose underwear, socks and T-shirts made of synthetic fabrics.
For a sweater or jacket, the best material in cold weather is fleece or natural wool. Such a fabric has a good balance between thermal insulation and removal of excess heat.
The choice of material for the jacket depends on what you do outside. You can walk in heavy sheepskin coats, and for more active activities, light membrane jackets will be an ideal choice.
Cotton hats do not retain heat well – their head can freeze. It is better to replace hats made of natural fabrics with dense hats made of acrylic with fleece.
When choosing shoes, pay attention that the soles are not made of rubber, otherwise your feet will freeze.
How to dress warmly in the cold – some tips
- Put on two pairs of socks on your feet – synthetic on the bottom, wool on the top.
- If two pairs of pants are worn, the upper ones should be looser. Then there will be air between the pants, which will provide thermal insulation.
- Short pants in the cold can lead to frostbite of the ankles. Be sure to cover your legs completely.
- Tuck the pants into the shoes if they are high enough.
- If the wind blows at your feet, put two insoles in your shoes.
- To warm your feet in the cold, put mustard seeds under your feet.
- Choose loose winter shoes so you can move your toes easily. If the shoes are too tight, the blood circulation in the legs will be disturbed and they will freeze.
- Do not spare money for a balaclava for the face – this thing will save a lot in the cold.
What to do if you start sweating in cold weather
It is very undesirable to sweat in cold weather, because you can catch a cold. If you feel yourself starting to sweat under your clothes, you need to adjust your body temperature quickly.
To begin with, it is worth slowing down and reducing physical activity. Then briefly remove an item of clothing to let the body shed excess heat, such as a hat or gloves.
