DC Studios and James Gunn, who is responsible, together with Peter Safran, for the development of the DC film universe, revealed the full list of tapes that will soon appear under the guidance of the two directors. The list includes five feature films and five television series for HBO Max. Together, they will start a new chapter of the film adventures of DC heroes, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters (“Chapter One: Gods and Monsters”).

“Superman: Legacy”
So far the only one from the announced list, this film has already received a release date of July 11, 2025. In it, Kal-El, sent to earth, will try to reconcile his extraterrestrial origin with ordinary life. Yes, it sounds like a rehash of a story that has already been told many times. The project will develop without Henry Cavill – James Gunn is currently looking for a new Superman.
“The Authority” or “The Authority”
A film about a group of seven superheroes based on the 1999 DC WildStorm comic book. The characters have conceptually unusual superpowers: one of them, Jack Hawksmoor, is psychically connected to cities, drawing his power from them
“The Brave and the Bold” (film about Batman and Robin)
The name The Brave and the Bold is taken from the comics published from 1967 to 1983, as well as the animated series from 2008 to 2011. DC describes it like this: “The DCU will introduce its Batman and Robin in this unusual father-son story inspired by Grant Morrison’s comic book.”
“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow”
The tape will introduce Kara Zor-El, raised on Krypton. The studio promises to “give viewers a Supergirl they’re not used to seeing.” Before that, she could only be seen in the cinema in the film “Supergirl” in 1984 with Helen Slater in the main role.
“Swamp Thing” (Swamp Thing)
The story of the Swamp Beast had a number of film adaptations. The new film will be “terrifying” and, as DC assures, will show us the “dark origins of the Swamp Creature” (probably referring to the origin of the creature).
It is also known that The Flash and the new Aquaman, which were previously known, remain in the works. What’s more, The Flash is set to reboot the movie franchise. DC is promising, quite literally, the biggest superhero movie ever. In addition, from the side branches of the DC universe (Elseworlds), the viewer will sooner or later see the story of a dark-skinned Superman, the second Joker (October 4, 2024) and another Batman performed by Robert Pattinson (October 3, 2025).

The show will tell about another attempt by Amanda Waller (leader of “Suicide Squad”) to create a team of “terrible prisoners.”

The Green Lantern Corps has been the main police force of the galaxy since 1959, making Hal Jordan (Silver Age Green Lantern) and Jon Stewart (1971) the perfect pairing. DC Studios has stated that this will be a huge series dedicated to uncovering the dark secrets of both characters.
“Paradise Lost” (Paradise Lost)
The action takes place in Themyscira, the homeland of Wonder Woman, before her birth. The story will focus on the intrigues of the hidden island.
James Gunn plans to create a complete universe: the heroes will be played by the same actors in films and series. The director shed some light on the cast of future films. According to him, Ben Affleck is no longer involved in the DC adaptations, and Henry Cavill is not completely fired, but has lost the role of Superman. However, a number of other famous actors will remain – Zachary Levi, Viola Davis, John Cena, possibly and Margot Robbie.
