Respawn Entertainment, the developer of Apex Legends, has announced that the mobile version of the game will be shut down in all regions on May 1. The server shutdown comes just weeks before Apex Legends Mobile’s one-year anniversary.
“Despite Apex Mobile’s strong start, the current experience has fallen short of our players’ expectations. “After several months of working with our development partner, we’ve made a mutual decision to shut down the mobile game,” EA said in a statement.
Players can no longer purchase items with real money in Apex Legends Mobile. In addition, the developers removed the game from mobile app stores. It will be finally closed on May 1, 2023 at 19:00 Eastern Time (02:00 May 2 Kyiv time).
It is also reported that any items or add-ons purchased by users of Apex Legends Mobile will disappear along with the game. At the same time, users will not receive any compensation or refunds for purchases made with real money “in accordance with the terms of the EA agreement.”
A similar fate awaits the game Battlefield Mobile. EA has decided to “stop development of the current Battlefield mobile game.”

“As the industry evolves and our strategy to build a deeply connected Battlefield ecosystem takes shape, we’ve decided to change our current direction to best deliver our vision for the franchise and meet the expectations of our players,” the company said.
EA intends to continue developing the Battlefield series, but not the mobile version.
It’s not all bad news for fans of EA games. The company decided to postpone the release of Star Wars Jedi: Survivor from March 17 to April 28. The extra time is needed by developers to focus on “fixing bugs, improving performance, stability, improvements, and most importantly, the player experience.”
