In 2021, P&G paid about $5.2 million in taxes and other payments to the Russian budget.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAZK) included the American multinational corporation Procter & Gamble in the list of international sponsors of the war.
The company continues to work in Russia and pays taxes there, which go, in particular, to the war against Ukraine, reports NAZK.
“Despite the war, P&G did not leave the Russian market. Two P&G factories operate in the Russian Federation: a factory for the production of Gillette razors in St. Petersburg and a factory for the production of toiletries in the Tula region, which contributes to the Russian budget and the financing of Russian war crimes.” – the message says.
NAZK also added that in 2021, P&G paid about $5.2 million to the Russian budget in the form of taxes and other payments. The company also provides jobs for about 2,500 Russians.
“According to the new Russian legislation, while remaining in Russia, P&G agrees to participate in the mobilization process, to contribute to the conscription of its personnel to the army and to finance their military equipment,” the NAZK reports.
Foreign business in Russia
As reported, in March Procter & Gamble announced that it would stop new capital investments in Russia and advertising. After that, the company raised the prices of its goods to 40%. The household chemicals plant of the Tula region is the world’s largest producer of detergents for P&G, producing products under the brands Ariel, Tide, “Myth”, Tix, Ace, Lenor, Comet, Fairy, MrProper and Pampers.
In total, Procter&Gamble Corporation owns the following subsidiaries and brands: Gillette; Fairy; Tide; Ariel; Lenore; Mr. Proper; pampers; Always; Head & Shoulders; Pantene; Old Spice; Hugo Boss; Max Factor and others.
In total, 13 companies from eight countries are currently on the list of international sponsors of the NAKC war, including: the French chain of construction hypermarkets Leroy Merlin (“Leroy Merlin”); one of the top developers of OpenWay Group banking software; British packaging and paper company Mondi; Russian manufacturer of software for ATMs, terminals and other banking equipment eKassir and others.
In January 2023, the French manufacturer of frozen and canned vegetables Bonduelle joined the list. The company continues its activities on the territory of the terrorist state of Russia.
Moreover, at the end of 2022, Bonduelle was involved in a scandal with the support of the Russian army. The Russian structure of the company handed over humanitarian aid to the occupying forces and wished them a “quick victory.” After that, Bonduelle Group published an official statement denying this information. They called a photo of their products and quotes from Bonduelle’s management in Russia “fake”. But a number of large Ukrainian retail chains have stopped purchasing Bonduelle products.
