Local residents were urged to be careful.
On the night of Friday, February 3, 2023, the Russian occupiers shelled Kherson.
As Yuriy Sobolevskyi, the first deputy chairman of the Kherson Regional Council, reported in his Telegram channel, the enemy is conducting massive shelling.
“The Orcs continue their massive shelling of Kherson, be careful!” he stressed.
The situation in the Kherson region
As of February 2, about 57,000 residents remained in Kherson, people continue to leave their hometown due to constant enemy shelling. About 8,000 people left in December, and about 3,000 in January.
British intelligence reported the purpose of constant intense shelling by the Russian occupiers of the city of Kherson and the liberated part of the Kherson region. The exact reason for the attacks is unclear, but Russian commanders likely want to damage civilian morale and deter any Ukrainian counterattacks across the river.
In addition to constant shelling, the hostile DRN became more active in Kherson Oblast. Nataliya Gumenyuk, spokesperson of the Southern Defense Forces, explained that this is how the Russians are trying to exhaust the defense forces and put pressure on the population of the de-occupied part of the region.
