This is stated in the evening summary of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. “It is also good news that starting tomorrow, Ukrainian crews will begin training in the operation of Leopard tanks,” the message said.
The General Staff notes that during the day, the Air Force of the Defense Forces carried out 9 strikes on enemy concentration areas, and missile and artillery units hit two enemy manpower concentration areas and an ammunition depot.
Leopard 2 tanks for Ukraine
On January 25, 2022, the German government officially approved the transfer of 14 units of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine and allowed other countries to re-export German-made tanks to Ukraine.
On February 4, 2023, Canada sent the first Leopard 2 main battle tank for the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Canada intends to provide Ukraine with four Leopard 2 main battle tanks and instructors to train the Ukrainian military to operate these vehicles.
As noted by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dmytro Kuleba, in the first wave of arms transfer from the partners of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, 120 to 140 units of modern Western models of tanks will arrive.
